The copy-paste tax

Your board already knows everything. Your documents don’t.

Projects, clients and handovers live on monday.com. Then someone copies the same twelve fields into Word, again, for every item. It’s slow, it drifts out of date and it’s where typos are born.

Today

Manual documents

  • Open the item, open last month’s file, “Save as…”
  • Retype client, dates, owner, scope and budget
  • Export to PDF, download, upload back to the item
  • Repeat for every project, every week
Minutesper document, every single time
With Word Templates to PDF & DOCX

Documents that build themselves

  • One Word template per document type, made once
  • Fields filled from the item, subitems as table rows
  • PDF and DOCX saved to the item’s Files column
  • Triggered by a status change, a button or bulk select

One connected workflow

Board, template and document, finally in sync.

Word Templates to PDF & DOCX sits between the data your team keeps current and the documents your clients actually read. Change the board and the next document is already right.

01

Your templates

Keep the branding, fonts, tables and headers you already designed. No proprietary editor, no lock-in: a template is just a .docx.

02

Your data

Word Templates to PDF & DOCX reads the item when the document is made, so every file reflects the board at that moment. It never edits your items.

03

Your workflow

Documents appear where work happens: in the item’s Files column, triggered by the status changes your team already makes.

How it works

Live in an afternoon. Useful for years.

Four steps, no code, no consultants. Start with one of the sample templates if you don’t have your own yet.

1

Open Word Templates to PDF & DOCX on your board

Add the Word Templates to PDF & DOCX view to any board. It reads your columns, groups and subitems; nothing on the board changes.

2

Upload the Word template you already use

Type {{Column name}} where board data should go. Word Templates to PDF & DOCX checks every placeholder against the board before you generate anything.

3

Preview, then generate in bulk

Preview one item as a PDF for free. Select ten or five hundred items and get PDF, DOCX or both in each item’s Files column.

4

Put it on autopilot

Add the automation: when a status changes, generate a document from a template into a file column. Your team never opens Word again.

Try it here

Type into the “board”. Watch the document follow.

This is how a template sees your item. Change a value or the status and the page updates, just like a generated PDF would.

Features

Everything a document team needs. Nothing it doesn’t.

Real Word templates, rendered faithfully

Our own DOCX-to-PDF engine keeps your line breaks, tables, repeating header rows, page breaks and fonts. We measure it against a reference renderer on every release.

Same lines99.5%
Page counts10/10
Same page100%

Template check

Every placeholder is matched to a column before you generate. Typos are caught, not printed.

Free previews

Preview any item as a PDF as often as you like. Previews never count toward your plan.

Bulk generation

Select up to 500 items. Watch progress live; each file lands on its own item.

Generating…500 items

Subitems as tables

Repeat a table row per subitem, with totals and counts: {{subitems | sum:"Hours"}}

Automations that just run

Each run is verified and idempotent: a retried automation never makes a duplicate file.

When Status changes to Approved, generate Offer letter into Files

Logic and formatting built in

Conditions, “if empty” blocks, number and date formats, upper/lower case, defaults and joins, all inside Word. Accented characters and non-English text render exactly.

Security & privacy

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I need Microsoft Word or a special editor?
No editor to learn. Write the template in Word, Google Docs (exported as .docx) or LibreOffice and upload the .docx. Word Templates to PDF & DOCX renders the PDF with its own engine, so neither Word nor LibreOffice is needed on our side or yours.
Which board data can I use?
Every column by its title (for example {{Client}} or {{Due date}}), the item name, group, board name, today’s date and subitems. Subitems can repeat as table rows, with sums and counts.
Where do the documents go?
Into a file column of the same item, so they stay with the work, inherit the board’s permissions and show up in monday’s search. You choose the column, the format and the file name pattern.
Do you keep copies of my documents?
No. Generated documents are uploaded straight to your board and not stored by us. Previews live in memory for 10 minutes. Your templates are stored encrypted and deleted when you uninstall the app.
Can it make invoices or tax documents?
Word Templates to PDF & DOCX is built for operational documents: project cards, reports, protocols, briefs and letters. It does not calculate taxes or number invoices, so use your accounting tool for those.
How does billing work?
Plans are billed monthly by monday.com, on the same invoice as your monday subscription. No annual lock-in: change or cancel from the monday marketplace at any time. A PDF and its DOCX twin count as one document.
Who can use it on my account?
Members and admins generate documents. Viewers and guests can see the view but cannot generate or change templates. Only monday account admins can install apps.

Stop copying. Start generating.

Install Word Templates to PDF & DOCX on your monday.com account, add a sample template and have your first PDF on an item in under five minutes.
