Recurring Tasks & Templates

Recurring Tasks & Templates guide

The weekly report, the monthly close or the daily checklist appears on your board by itself, on time and only once.

Get started

  1. Install Recurring Tasks & Templates from the monday.com marketplace (account admins install apps).
  2. On a board, click + Add view → Apps → Recurring Tasks & Templates.
  3. An account admin clicks Connect monday once, so the app can read the board and create items.
  4. Click New recurring task, pick a template, a schedule and a target group.

Free plan

Free is a full plan, no card needed: 3 recurring tasks, 5 templates, 200 items and subitems a month, up to 25 per run. Every feature in this guide is on Free. Paid plans only raise the limits; see pricing.

Templates

  • A template is an item with its subitems or a whole group of your board.
  • For each column choose what the copy gets: keep the value, clear it, the run date plus N days, the run week, or a fixed status label. People stay assigned.
  • Columns monday does not let apps write (for example files, mirror and formula columns) are listed as “not copied”.
  • The name can use tokens such as {name}, {date:YYYY-MM-DD}, {week} and {month}.

Schedules

  • Daily, weekly (one or several weekdays), monthly on day N (31 means the last day of shorter months) or on the last day, the n-th working day (Monday to Friday), every N days or every N weeks.
  • A time and an IANA time zone, a start and an end date, pause and resume. A preview lists the next runs.
  • Holidays and custom working days are not supported yet.

Each slot creates its items once, even if monday or our server is interrupted in the middle of a run: the app records what it is about to create and checks it on every retry. A run can be minutes late, and a failing run is retried every 5 minutes, but never past the next slot. After a longer outage only the latest missed slot runs; older ones are skipped, so your board is not flooded.

Reset a status

“Reset status every week or month” sets a status column of a group, or of listed items, back to the label you choose, for example “Not started” on Monday morning. Items you reset count toward the monthly limit.

Run log

Every schedule keeps a log of its latest runs (the last 100) with the items created or the reason a run failed. Run now runs a schedule immediately; clicking it twice never creates two copies.

Automation and Sidekick

In monday automations, the action “Create items from template” creates the items of a template when your trigger fires; with an item selected, the template’s subitems are added under it. Sidekick can set up a recurring task from chat; it asks you to confirm first.

Plans

Free, Basic ($12), Pro ($29) and Business ($59) per monday.com account and month, billed by monday.com. Limits are on the pricing page. If you move to a smaller plan nothing is deleted: the oldest schedules keep running and the ones above the limit fail their runs with a message in the run log until you delete some or upgrade. While a monday.com trial is active, the app applies Pro limits.

Your data

Templates, schedules and run logs are kept until you delete them or uninstall; everything is deleted when you uninstall. Details in the privacy policy and on the security page.

Roles & permissions

Account admins and board owners create and change templates and schedules; other members can see them; viewers and guests have read-only access. The app reads and creates items only on boards the person using it can open. It adds items (and resets the status you chose); it never deletes your items.
