Get started
- Install Paste from Excel & Bulk Edit from the monday.com marketplace (account admins install apps).
- On a board, click + Add view → Apps → Paste from Excel & Bulk Edit.
- An account admin clicks Connect monday once.
- Paste your cells (with a header row) or upload an .xlsx or .csv file, then check the preview.
Free plan
Free is a full plan, no card needed: 100 rows a month, up to 100 rows per paste. Every feature in this guide is on Free; paid plans only raise the limits (pricing). Only rows that change something count: unchanged rows and rows with errors are free.
How rows are matched
Columns are matched by their header. Each row finds its item by item ID, by name or by any text-like column you choose. Three modes: update existing items, update or create, or create new items in a group you pick.
Column types
Status and dropdown by label text; people by name or e-mail (an ambiguous name is refused, not guessed); dates in ISO, day.month.year, day/month/year, month-day-year, month names and Excel serial numbers; numbers with local separators and currency signs; timeline ranges; text, long text, link, e-mail, phone, checkbox and the item name. A value the app cannot read with certainty is not written: the row appears in the list of bad rows with the reason, and you can download that list as CSV.
A pasted time without a time zone is written as UTC, because monday stores date-times in UTC; add a zone or offset to the value if that matters.
Preview and apply
- The preview shows every cell before → after; unchanged cells are skipped.
- Apply runs in the background and can be resumed after an interruption. Before it writes an item the app checks that the cell still holds what the preview showed; if a teammate changed it meanwhile, that cell is left alone and reported.
- monday has no atomic compare-and-set, so an edit that lands in the same few milliseconds as our write to that item can still be overwritten.
Undo
Undo restores the cells that still hold what the app wrote, and leaves cells that were changed by someone else. Items created by a paste are archived (you can restore them in monday), and only if nobody changed them since. Undo is available for 30 days after a paste.
Find and set one value
Paste a list of item names or IDs, then set one value (for example a status) for all of them. It goes through the same preview, apply and undo.
Plans
Free, Basic ($15), Pro ($35) and Business ($79) per monday.com account and month, billed by monday.com. Limits are on the pricing page. While a monday.com trial is active, the app applies Pro limits.
Your data
A pasted table is kept in memory for 30 minutes. Each applied paste keeps a record of the changed cells (before and after) so that undo works; the last 50 pastes are kept, and everything is deleted when you uninstall. Details in the privacy policy.
Roles & permissions
Account admins and board owners can apply pastes; viewers and guests cannot. The app reads and writes only boards the person using it can open. It does not delete items; undo archives only the items a paste created.
